The nomination of Mahmudur Rahman Manna, president of Nagorik Oikya, has been cancelled in the Bogura-2 constituency.

The decision was announced on Friday, December 2, at around 3:30pm by District Administrator and District Returning Officer Md Toufiqul Rahman following scrutiny of nomination papers.

The returning officer said discrepancies were found in the affidavit submitted by Mahmudur Rahman Manna, including inconsistencies in information and irregularities regarding the date of signature on the notary public documents. As a result, his nomination was declared invalid. He was also advised to file an appeal if he wished to challenge the decision.

In the same constituency, the nomination of former Jatiya Party lawmaker Shariful Islam Jinnah was also cancelled as he failed to submit the prescribed asset declaration form along with his affidavit. Additionally, the nominations of Selim Sarker from Gano Odhikar Parishad and Rezaual Karim Talu, an independent candidate, were rejected.

Following the cancellation of these nominations, the electoral contest in Bogura-2 has changed. The district election office said decisions regarding the remaining candidates were announced after scrutiny.

The valid candidates in the constituency are Mir Shahe Alam from BNP, Maulana Abul Azad Md Shahadatuzzaman from Jamaat-e-Islami, and Md Jamal Uddin from Islami Andolon.
