Major revision in referendum results, nearly 1.1 million votes reduced
The Election Commission (EC) has made major revisions to the results of the referendum held to implement the 2024 post-student uprising constitutional reform or the 'July National Charter'.
According to the new gazette, the number of both 'yes' and 'no' votes has decreased compared to the previously announced results.
In an additional gazette published on Thursday, Senior Secretary of the Election Commission Secretariat Akhtar Ahmed gave the revised information.
The EC notification mentioned that the referendum was held on February 12 to verify the consent of the people on the 'July National Charter (Constitutional Reform) Implementation Order, 2025' and its results were published in the gazette on February 13.

As per the revised results, ‘Yes’ votes have decreased by 974,680 and ‘No’ votes have decreased by 111,495. The total number of votes cast has decreased by 1,073,616. However, the number of invalid votes has increased by 12,559.
The Election Commission did not specify the specific reason for the amendment, but said that the amendment gazette was published on the order of the commission.
It is worth noting that the constitutional validity and popular consent of the 'July National Charter' is to be finalized through this referendum.
