Major shake-up in top customs posts: New Director General appointed for customs intelligence
Three Commissioner-rank officials within the Customs, Excise, and VAT department under the National Board of Revenue (NBR) have been reshuffled. As part of these changes, Mohammad Safiur Rahman has been appointed as the new Director General (DG) of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate.
The realignment was announced through a notification issued by the Customs and VAT Administration-1 branch of the NBR on Monday.
According to the notification, Mohammad Rashedul Alam, the Commissioner of the Dhaka East Customs, Excise, and VAT Commissionerate, has been transferred to the Rangpur Customs, Excise, and VAT Commissionerate to serve in the same capacity.
Concurrently, Mohammad Safiur Rahman, who was serving as the Commissioner of the Rangpur Customs, Excise, and VAT Commissionerate, has been posted as the Director General of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate.
Furthermore, the incumbent Director General, Mohammad Shafi Uddin, has been reassigned to take charge as the Commissioner of the Dhaka East Customs, Excise, and VAT Commissionerate.
The National Board of Revenue has directed the three concerned officials to join their respective new workplaces immediately.
