Majority of victims in Air Force training plane crash are students: Press Wing
A Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crashed into a building at Milestone School and College in the capital, resulting in the deaths of at least 16 people, according to the Press Wing of the Chief Adviser’s Office. Most of those killed are students.
The Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) reported 18 fatalities, while Brigadier General Mohammad Zahed Kamal, Director General of Fire Service and Civil Defence, confirmed 19 deaths at a press conference on Monday afternoon.
Over 100 people were injured in the crash, with 83 currently receiving treatment in hospitals across Dhaka, the Press Wing said.
The Bangladesh Air Force’s F-7 BJI training aircraft crashed in the Uttara area, according to ISPR.
In response to the tragedy, the government has declared a one-day national mourning on Tuesday, July 22. During this period, the national flag will be flown at half-mast on all government, semi-government, and autonomous institutions, educational establishments, government and private buildings, and at Bangladeshi missions abroad.
