Man arrested for allegedly raping six-year-old girl in Naogaon

Police have arrested a man accused of raping a six-year-old girl after allegedly luring her with food in Dhamoirhat upazila of Naogaon.

The suspect, Motibul Islam, 30, a resident of Moishar village under Sadar union, was detained following the incident that reportedly took place Friday afternoon (March 6).

According to the victim’s family, the child— a first-grade student at a local government primary school—was playing near her home when the accused allegedly took her to his house with the promise of food and assaulted her.

The girl’s mother said she later found her daughter bleeding and rushed her to the Dhamoirhat Upazila Health Complex. As her condition worsened, doctors referred her to Naogaon Sadar Hospital for advanced treatment.

After the incident came to the attention of district authorities, Mohammad Tarikul Islam, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Naogaon, sent Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Joybrata Pal to the hospital to oversee the situation and ensure the child receives proper medical care.

"One suspect has been arrested and legal proceedings are underway into this matter. The district police chief said strict legal measures against offenders targeting minors and female victims," the SP added.
