Man beaten to death in Narayanganj on robbery suspicion
A 32-year-old man, identified as Nabi, was reportedly beaten to death by locals on suspicion of robbery in Dori Bishnandi village, Araihazar. Four others were injured in the attack.
The incident occurred around 3:45 a.m. Tuesday when heavy rain had begun. Kulsum Begum, 40, wife of Ilias Mia, went outside to cover the kitchen stove and noticed three to four strangers. She shouted “robbers!” prompting her family and neighbors to rush out. The alleged robbers then attacked them with sharp weapons, leaving four people injured.
As the incident was announced through the mosque loudspeaker, locals chased the suspects. Nabi was caught and beaten to death on the spot.
The injured—Kulsum Begum, her son Naeem Mia, 18, neighbor Faruk Mia, 45, and Abul Hossain, 28 —have been admitted to various hospitals. Nabi, a resident of Paschim Aguandi in Uchitpura Union, Araihazar, was pronounced dead at the scene.
