Man dies after falling from under-construction building in Dhaka

A security guard was killed after falling from an under-construction building in Mohammadpur's Chandrima Model Town in the capital on Wednesday morning (August 5).

The deceased was identified as Md. Shuruj Sheikh, 40, a resident of Bajuar Tek village in Nagarpur upazila of Tangail. He had been staying at the 10-storey building where he worked.

According to his co-worker Sohel Rana, the incident occurred around 8:30am while Shuruj was watering the building. He reportedly fell from the third floor and sustained critical injuries.

He was rushed to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Inspector Md. Faruk of the Dhaka Medical Police Outpost said the body has been sent to the hospital morgue for an autopsy. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal fall.
