A man has died in grief after his daughter was reportedly been killed by her husband in Satkhira's Kaliganj upazila.

Family members said Keramat Molla died of a stroke while grieving over the death of his daughter, Sajida Khatun, 35.

The incident took place on Friday (May 8) night in Chanditala village of Kushulia union in Kaliganj upazila.

According to the victim's family, Sajida's husband Monirul Islam and his family members beat Sajida after a family feud over second marriage. At one stage, she was seriously injured when her husband kicked her. Later, Sajida, the mother of two children, died. Her family claims that it was a planned murder.

According to locals, after the incident, Kaliganj police reached the spot, recovered the body and sent it for autopsy.

In this incident, charges were filed against the victim's husband Monirul Islam and some of his family members. However, the relatives of the deceased alleged that some names were later removed from the case list. They held a press conference at the Kaliganj Press Club on Sunday (May 10) regarding this.

The deceased's brother Md. Abdul Khalek alleged that although several people were initially accused, the list was later reduced, resulting in the real criminals being hidden. He demanded a fair investigation into the incident and the inclusion of all the accused.

Meanwhile, Sajida's father Keramat Molla died of a stroke on Sunday evening, unable to bear the grief of his daughter's death, the family said.

Kaliganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Jewel Hossain said that the body has been sent for autopsy. The real cause of death can be confirmed after receiving the report.

He also said that the investigation into the case is ongoing and it will be ensured that no innocent person is harassed.
