Man held for attempting to rape four-year-old in Pallabi

Police have detained a young man named Emdad on charges of attempting to rape a four-year-old child in Pallabi, capital, on Saturday afternoon, June 27.

According to police and local sources, the accused lured the child to a secluded spot with the promise of food and attempted to rape her. Locals became aware of the incident, rushed to the spot and detained him. An angry mob later beat him before handing him over to police.

Pallabi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Hasan Basir said one person has been detained over the attempted rape of a child. The victim's family is in the process of filing a case.

Police Station Inspector (Operations) Hanif said the matter is being investigated seriously. Legal action will be taken after verifying the allegations.

Police said the detained person will be produced in court after the case procedures are completed.
