Man killed by train while walking along railway tracks
A young man was killed after being hit by a train while walking along the railway tracks near the Khilkhet rail gate area in the capital. A teenage boy was also injured in the same incident, which occurred around 2:45pm on Saturday (May 3).
Sub-Inspector Mohammad Ali, in-charge of the Airport Outpost of Dhaka Railway Police Station, confirmed the incident. He said, “The victim was walking along the railway line when he was hit by the Surma Mail train heading towards Kamalapur. The 25-year-old man died on the spot.”
He also added, “At the same time, a 12-year-old boy was rescued in an injured condition. He was first taken to Kurmitola Hospital and later transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) around 5pm.”
The police are currently trying to identify both the deceased and the injured.
Inspector Md. Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH police outpost, said that according to doctors, the condition of the injured boy is critical.
