Man killed in Old Dhaka shooting is a top terrorist: Police
The man shot dead in front of National Medical Institute Hospital in Old Dhaka has been identified as Tarik Saif Mamun, 55, a top-listed criminal, according to Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
The incident took place around 10:30am on Monday (November 10).
According to police and eyewitnesses, assailants shot him at close range before fleeing.
Ahsan Uddin Sami, deputy commissioner of Lalbagh Division, said, "Mamun was previously an associate of another top criminal, Sanjidul Islam Imon, but a long-standing dispute over criminal territory may have led to the killing."
CCTV footage shows Mamun trying to flee as two men fired at him from close range. The attack lasted 3–4 seconds, after which the suspects escaped.
Mamun’s family said he had been staying at a rented house in Badda for two days and had left home to appear in court.
