Man sent to jail for throwing mother out of house in Khulna

A Khulna court has sent a man to jail on charges of beating his mother and throwing her out of house.

Judge Apurba Bala of Khulna Senior Judicial Magistrate Court-2 (Rupsa) passed the order on Thursday (March 12) afternoon, rejecting the bail plea of the accused.

The accused, Masum Billah, 30, was arrested from Ramnagar area of ​​Rupsha on Wednesday night. He is the son of Shamsul Haque and Sahara Banu. The victim's mother, Sahara Banu, filed a case against him in the court on February 5.

According to the case statement, in 2013, the eldest son of the woman, Masum, registered 16 kathas of land in his name by promising to provide maintenance to his mother. Since then, physical and mental torture on his mother began. He used to pressure his mother to leave the house and would not allow relatives or siblings to enter it.

On January 1, around 10 am, Masum dragged his mother Sahara Banu out of the house and beat her up. Neighbours took the injured mother Sahara to the local health complex. After filing a complaint at the police station, Masum threatened to kill his mother.

Accepting the case, the court ordered Masum's arrest. After being arrested on Wednesday night, he was produced before the court on Thursday morning and sent to jail.
