Man shoots younger brother dead
A tragic family dispute over land ended with a younger brother being shot dead by his elder sibling in Boalmari of Faridpur.
The accused, retired doctor Golam Kabir, 72, allegedly killed his younger brother Mintu Molla, 57, during a confrontation on Wednesday morning (March 25). Angry locals caught the suspect, beat him, and handed him over to police.
The incident occurred around 10am on Tuesday in the Chatul Railgate area of Chatul Union. The victim, Mintu Molla, was the fifth son of the late Ishak Master.
According to police and local sources, Ishak Master had six sons and one daughter. Golam Kabir, the eldest, and Mintu Molla had been involved in a long-standing dispute over their ancestral property, with several cases already filed at the local police station.
On the day of the incident, Mintu Molla went to cut a tree near his house. Golam Kabir confronted him, leading to an argument. The situation escalated when Golam Kabir allegedly lured Mintu to the Railgate area and fired several rounds at him, killing him instantly.
Locals rushed to the scene after hearing the gunshots, detained Golam Kabir, and physically assaulted him before handing him over to the police.
Boalmari Police Station Officer-in-Charge, Md. Anwar Hossain, confirmed the arrest, stating that the firearm used in the incident is being seized. The victim’s body has been sent to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination. Legal action is currently underway.
