Man shot dead in Rajshahi

A man has been shot to death dead by miscreants in Rajshahi city's Motihar area.

The deceased is Md Mostofa, 50, son of Taimur Uddin of Danshmari area. He is an employee of a flour mill and had no political affiliation.

The incident took place near Hojapur graveyard under Motihar police station at 8pm on Saturday.

After the incident, locals rescued Mostafa and took him to the hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Locals said that he was shot while he was going to the mosque to offer prayers on Saturday night. No one understands who or what caused this incident. A live bullet and a shell casing were found at the scene.

Rajshahi Medical College Hospital's emergency department doctor MA Jalil said that the patient died before reaching the hospital. He was shot in his right leg. There was also a wound in his head.

Rajshahi Metropolitan Police spokesperson Additional Deputy Police Commissioner Gaziur Rahman said, "I heard about the incident a while ago. The police are investigating. We are working to identify the person involved."
