Police have arrested Abdul Latif Molla, 35, who allegedly ordered the exhumation of the body of Nural Haque, widely known as “Nural Pagla,” from his grave in Goalanda upazila of Rajbari district.

The arrest was confirmed on Tuesday by Rajbari Additional Superintendent of Police Sharif Al Rajib.

According to police sources, Latif Molla is the son of Maulana Bahauddin of Boro Thakurkandi village in Ghior upazila of Manikganj.

Information about Latif Molla's involvement surfaced during a confessional statement under Section 164 by Apu Kazi, an accused in a separate case involving attacks on police and vandalism of vehicles. Based on that testimony, police launched an operation and arrested Latif from Manikganj.

Latif Molla is also accused in a major case involving the attack on Nural Pagla’s home and shrine. The charges include arson, theft, assault, murder, and the exhumation and burning of Nural Pagla’s remains.

“So far, two individuals have been arrested in this case. Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the remaining suspects,” said ASP Sharif Al Rajib.

In connection with the related case of police assault and vehicle vandalism, 18 individuals have been arrested to date.

Police have also detained Abhi Mondol Ronju, 29, son of Billal Mondol of Alam Chowdhury Para in Goalanda, for his alleged involvement in the same incident.

Meanwhile, on Monday night, Azad Molla — father of slain Nural Pagla follower Russell Molla — filed a complaint with Goalanda Ghat Police Station. The case names 3,500 to 4,000 unidentified individuals in connection with the violence.
