Many lives are at risk: Dr. Sayedur Rahman
Professor Dr. Md. Sayedur Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Medical University, said that so far 60 people have been brought to the Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute following the crash of the training aircraft. In fact, a large number of people’s lives are at risk.
He further stated that a major incident is unfolding, but the exact details are still unclear. All preparations have been made following the incident. About 30 to 35 people have been admitted inside. Many people have been injured.
The accident occurred on Monday (21 July) afternoon in the Milestone College area of Diabari, Uttara. At least three people have died, and many others have been injured. The names and identities of the victims are not yet known.
At least 60 people, including women and children, have been burned in the crash incident. Most of them are students, according to Dr. Md. Sayedur Rahman.
Around 2:30 pm, besides the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute, several hospitals in Uttara received patients. Blood is urgently needed for these injured individuals.
A volunteer involved in the rescue operation said that patients are being taken to the Burn Unit of Dhaka Medical College, Kuwait-Bangladesh Maitree Medical, and Uttara Medical.
The injured and burned have been taken to the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute, Dhaka Medical Burn Unit, Kurmitola General Hospital, Uttara Modern Medical College, Kuwait-Bangladesh Maitree Government Hospital, Uttara Women’s Medical College, and Mansur Ali Medical College. Blood is urgently needed for these patients.
Meanwhile, considering the treatment of the injured, emergency messages have been issued from Dhaka Medical Burn Unit, Kurmitola General Hospital, Uttara Modern Medical College, Kuwait Maitree Hospital, Uttara Women’s Medical College, and Mansur Ali Medical College.
Meanwhile, the Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) said the plane took off at 1:06 pm and crashed shortly after. An investigation has started to determine the cause of the accident. The pilot of the plane was Flight Lieutenant Toukir Islam Sagar. He was alone on the plane.
