'March for Gaza' programme set to held in Dhaka today
A 'March for Gaza' programme is set to held in the capital today to express solidarity with the Palestinians as part of a protest for the ongoing barbaric Israeli aggression in Gaza.
The formalities of the mass gathering will begin at Suhrawardy Udyan at 3.00pm on Saturday (April 12) and continue until Maghrib prayers.
However, people from different classes and professions have started coming to Suhrawardy Udyan since this morning. Additional security measures have also been strengthened regarding this programme.
The programme, organised by a platform called 'Palestine Solidarity Movement Bangladesh', will be presided over by the Khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, Maulana Abdul Malek.
Along with the public, various political and social organisations including BNP, Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP), Jamaat-e-Islam, Hefazat-e-Islam are participating in this programme. Organisers and concerned parties have expressed their expectation that this will be the biggest public gathering for Palestine on Dhaka's roads.
Islamic speaker Mizanur Rahman Azhari and As-Sunnah Foundation Chairman Shaykh Ahmadullah will also attend the programme, the organisers confirmed.
Meanwhile, five routes have been determined for the participants in the 'March for Gaza' programme. The march towards the rally will start at 2.00pm today from Bangla Motor, Kakrail intersection, Zero Point, Bakshibazar and Nilkhet intersection. Participants will enter Suhrawardy Udyan from their respective points on the designated route.
According to the instructions, those coming from Bangla Motor will enter Suhrawardy Udyan through Ramna Gate (via Shahbag), while those coming from Kakrail intersection will enter Suhrawardy Udyan through Engineers Institute Gate. Additionally, those coming from Zero Point and Bakshibazar will enter Suhrawardy Udyan through the TSC gate (via Doel Square), while those coming from Nilkhet intersection will enter Suhrawardy Udyan through the TSC gate (via VC Square).
