Mason dies after falling from under-construction building in Kalabagan
A mason has died after falling from an under-construction building in the capital's Kalabagan area. The deceased was identified as Md Yasin, 38.
The accident occurred on Friday morning, June 19, at an under-construction building adjacent to the Bhuter Gali Mosque under Kalabagan Police Station.
According to police and witnesses, Yasin was working on the sixth floor of the building around 9:30 am when he accidentally fell and sustained serious injuries. His coworkers rushed him to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital at 10:15 am. He was declared dead by the on-duty doctor at 11:40 am.
Yasin's coworker, Chhayedul, said Yasin suddenly fell while working. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he could not be saved.
An official from the hospital police camp said the body has been kept in the hospital morgue for autopsy, and the matter has been reported to the concerned police station.
Questions have been raised locally about whether adequate safety measures were in place at the under-construction building.
