Students of the Medical Assistant Training School (MATS) have announced a long march in Dhaka's Shahbagh today (Sunday) to press home their four-point demands.

The General Mats Students' Unity Council made the announcement in a statement on Saturday.

"This is to inform all diploma doctors, professionals, job seekers, interns, and general students across the country that a long march has been scheduled in Shahbagh at 10am on Sunday, following the press conference on February 4," the statement read.

It further urged participants to prepare for at least two days and join the march in groups from their respective locations to ensure the demands are met.

The students' four-point demands include:
1. Immediate recruitment for vacant 10th-grade posts, along with employment opportunities and new post creation at both government and private levels.
2. Revision of the course curriculum and renaming of the institution as a medical institute.
3. Formation of an independent "Medical Education Board of Bangladesh" by scrapping the proposed "Allied-Health Professional Board."
4. Opportunities for higher education in clinical subjects, in accordance with international standards and BM&DC recognition
