Measles and symptoms: 9 more children die, total death 432

At least eight more children have died across the country in the last 24 hours due to measles and measles-like symptoms, according to the latest report from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Among the deaths, seven were linked to measles-like symptoms, while one was confirmed as a measles case.

With these latest fatalities, the total number of child deaths due to measles and related complications has reached 432 nationwide.

Health officials said that over the past one and a half months, 69 children died from confirmed measles infections, while 363 died showing measles-related symptoms.

During the same period, 7,150 cases of confirmed measles infection were recorded through testing, while 53,056 patients were admitted to hospitals with measles-like symptoms.

According to DGHS data, the highest number of infections and deaths has been reported in the Dhaka division.

The figures cover the period from March 15 to May 13, the health authority added.
