Measles claims lives of 3 more children in 24 hours
In the 24 hours until 8:00 am on Tuesday, one child has died from measles and two children from measles-like symptoms. The total death toll from measles since March 15 now stands at 38, while 185 children have died with measles-like symptoms.
The information was provided in an updated report on measles from the Directorate General of Health Services. During this period, 188 children have been infected with measles, and 913 children have been admitted to hospital.
According to the health directorate, the child who died from measles in the last 24 hours was from Dhaka division. The deaths with measles-like symptoms occurred in Barishal and Sylhet divisions.
The health directorate reported that 1,159 children across the country showed measles-like symptoms in the last 24 hours. Of them, 913 were hospitalised, with the highest number, 445, from Dhaka division.
During this period, 848 children hospitalised with measles-like symptoms were discharged, including 389 from Dhaka division.
According to the health directorate report, a total of 25,935 children have shown measles-like symptoms since March 15. Of them, 17,085 have been hospitalised, measles was confirmed in 3,805 children, and 14,106 patients have been discharged from hospital.
