Measles outbreak: 10 more children die, 912 hospitalised in 24 hours
The measles outbreak in the country is escalating at an alarming rate. In the last 24 hours, 10 more children have died from measles or symptoms of the disease. During the same period, 912 new patients with suspected measles symptoms have been admitted to hospitals across the country.
This information was provided in a press release from the Integrated Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services on Sunday, April 12.
According to the health directorate's release, among the 10 children who died in the last 24 hours, four died from confirmed measles and six from measles-like symptoms. The total number of laboratory-confirmed measles deaths now stands at 28. Meanwhile, the total number of suspected measles-related deaths has risen to 151.
With the number of confirmed and suspected patients in hospitals across the country continuing to rise, the health directorate has advised ensuring rapid vaccination of children.
