Measles vaccine for newborn to 6 years from September 26: Health Minister

Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Sakhawat Hossain has said that all children from newborn to six years of age across the country will be given the measles vaccine from September 26. He called upon leaders and activists to take the initiative to bring children from their homes for vaccination so that no child is left out of the immunisation programme.

The health minister made these remarks as chief guest at the inauguration of a free medical camp organised on the occasion of BNP's founding anniversary at the Paragaon Eidgah ground in Rupganj on Saturday afternoon, September 12.

He said the government is working with the goal of ensuring good health for every person in the country. All concerned must work in coordination to make the child immunisation programme successful.

The health minister also expressed concern over the dengue outbreak in the country. He said everyone must participate in cleanliness activities together to prevent dengue. Places where water can accumulate and Aedes mosquitoes can breed, including house yards, flower tubs and abandoned tyres, must be kept clean regularly.

Sardar Sakhawat Hossain said everyone must work together against dengue. If cleanliness campaigns can be conducted collectively, the spread of the disease can be brought under control to a large extent.

After the programme, the minister participated in the free medical camp organised by Rupganj Upazila BNP with the cooperation of various local hospitals and clinics. At that time, he distributed free medical health cards among freedom fighters. Later, he released fingerlings of various species of fish into the Paragaon Eidgah pond.
