Meat seller slaughtered in Benapole

A 48-year-old meat seller was brutally killed by having his throat slit at his house in Benapole of Jashore early Friday. The deceased has been identified as Mizanur Rahman, son of the late Hanif Sardar of Chhoto Achra village.

The wife of the deceased said, a van driver who worked as Mizanur’s assistant came to their house around 2:30am on Friday. Later, when Mizanur’s wife woke up and opened the door, she found her husband’s bloodied body in the yard.

According to the neighbour, Mizanur was known as a good person in the area. He sold cattle and usually sold beef on Fridays. On the night of the incident, Mizanur had left his house to go to work after receiving a phone call from a businessman.

Md. Russel Mia, OC of Benapole Port Police, said, “Police rushed to the scene after receiving the news. Mizanur’s body was recovered and sent to Jashore General Hospital morgue. A blood-stained knife was found at the scene.”

“Police have started investigating to catch those involved, but no case has been filed yet,” he added.
