Emergency and regular healthcare services are being severely disrupted due to the ongoing strike by medical technologists and pharmacists in government hospitals. In this situation, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has ordered them to return to work immediately.

The ministry said that positive progress has already been made in implementing the long-standing demands of technologists and pharmacists. It is not desirable for patient services to stop.

A notification signed by the ministry's Deputy Chief Information Officer Mohammad Mahmudul Hasan on Friday (December 5) said that patients are being deprived of necessary tests and medicine-related services due to the strike. In that case, the agitators have been requested to immediately withdraw their programme and return to duty.

The notification mentioned that the Directorate General of Health Services and the ministry have already completed the necessary work for the implementation of the 10th grade and informed the Ministry of Public Administration. The Ministry of Public Administration is also taking the matter forward positively.

The ministry also said that the protesters are disappointed that they continued the strike after participating in the secretary-level meeting and were informed about the progress. It is not logical to carry out the strike by harming patients in a sensitive profession like healthcare.

The notification warned that if the strike continues and a situation arises where services are stopped, the government will have no option but to take legal action.
