Mentally challenged girl gang-raped in Sylhet, 3 held

A mentally challenged girl was gang-raped in a sand field in Kanaighat, Sylhet. Police have arrested three drivers in this incident. They were arrested in a drive conducted on Thursday night. They were sent to jail through a court on Friday.

The accused are – Subhankar Das, son of Nikhil Das of Umagar village in Sadar union of Kanaighat upazila, Babul Ahmed, son of Farid Ahmed of Birdal Kachupara village, and Fahad Mia, son of Babul Mia of Chatti village.

Kanaighat police station OC Abdul Awal informed that the girl's mother has filed a case with the police station regarding the rape. The police have arrested them in this case.

The girl left her house and went on the road last Wednesday night. The next day, locals found him in a sandy field in Kayastha village of Dakshin Banigram union of the upazila with his clothes torn. He was rescued and sent to the OCC of Osmani Medical College Hospital. During interrogation, he told about three people. They had picked him up from the road. After confirming the identity of the people involved through various media, they were arrested at night.
