Metro rail services resume after 25-minute halt due to electrocuted cat
Metro rail services in the capital came to a temporary halt after a cat climbed onto the electric line at Shahbagh area and was electrocuted. The incident occurred around 11:50 am on Saturday, June 13. Train movement resumed 25 minutes later at 12:15 pm.
Metro rail authorities said the power supply on the entire route was immediately cut off to avoid any accident. At the same time, all train movement was temporarily suspended in the interest of passenger safety, and announcements were made through public address systems at stations.
Passengers on moving trains faced difficulties due to the sudden power cut. The air conditioning systems shut down, leaving many passengers in uncomfortable conditions inside the sealed compartments.
Crowds built up at various stations during the disruption, and many passengers turned to alternative transport, putting additional pressure on public transport on various routes in the capital.
A technical team quickly resolved the problem, and the power supply was restored at 12:15 pm. Authorities said metro rail services gradually returned to normal after that.
