Metro rail services suspended for 26 minutes after door opens mid-run

Metro rail services on the Uttara-Motijheel route were suspended for 26 minutes on Wednesday morning (September 23) after a rear door of a moving train suddenly opened, prompting authorities to halt operations as a safety precaution.

The incident occurred on a train travelling from Uttara North to Motijheel, according to Mohammad Mohsin Sheikh, inspector of the MRT Police’s operations branch.

Services were suspended at 7:37am after officials were alerted that the door had opened while the train was in motion. Maintenance personnel inspected the train and repaired the mechanical fault.

Train services resumed at 8:03am after the repair was completed, with authorities saying operations on the route have since returned to normal.
