Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) has confirmed that metro rail services will run according to the regular schedule today, easing concerns over a possible service shutdown.

Regular officers and employees of DMTCL had earlier announced an indefinite work abstention starting December 12, demanding the formulation and publication of an independent employment policy. The announcement raised fears of a complete suspension of metro rail operations.

However, in a statement posted on DMTCL’s verified Facebook page on Thursday night, authorities assured passengers that metro rail services would continue uninterrupted and follow the normal timetable.

The post reiterated that all scheduled services would operate as usual and urged passengers not to worry.

The strike announcement had been issued a day earlier through an official notice by DMTCL’s regular staff.
