The Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) on Wednesday (25 December) suspended metro rail operations at the Dhaka University station due to security concerns. The decision was made following a letter sent to DMTCL by the university authorities, the company's General Manager (operations) Md Iftikhar Hossain informed this to the media. "The university authorities discussed the matter with the Ministry of Home Affairs. Based on their security concerns, we decided not to stop the metro rail at Dhaka University station today. "Operations will resume at the station starting tomorrow," Iftikhar added.

নিরাপত্তাজনিত কারণে বুধবার (২৫ ডিসেম্বর) ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় স্টেশনে মেট্রোরেল চলাচল সাময়িকভাবে বন্ধ রেখেছে ঢাকা ম্যাস ট্রানজিট কোম্পানি লিমিটেড (ডিএমটিসিএল)। বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় কর্তৃপক্ষের পাঠানো এক চিঠির পরিপ্রেক্ষিতে এই সিদ্ধান্ত নেয়া হয়েছে বলে জানিয়েছেন ডিএমটিসিএল-এর মহাব্যবস্থাপক (অপারেশনস) মো. ইফতেখার হোসেন। তিনি বলেন, `বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় কর্তৃপক্ষ স্বরাষ্ট্র মন্ত্রণালয়ের সঙ্গে আলোচনা করেছে। তাদের নিরাপত্তাজনিত উদ্বেগের ভিত্তিতে আজ ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় স্টেশনে মেট্রোরেল থামানো হয়নি।' `আগামীকাল থেকে স্টেশনে স্বাভাবিক কার্যক্রম পুনরায় শুরু হবে,' যোগ করেন ইফতেখার।
