Microbus gas cylinder explosion kills 3 in Bogura
At least three people, including the driver, were killed when a passenger microbus’s gas cylinder exploded in Sonka area on the Dhaka-Bogura highway.
The deceased has been identified as Rintu (driver), 47, Shiuli Begum, 48, and Taiba Khatun, 35.
Nine others, including women and children, were injured and admitted to nearby hospitals.
According to locals sources, the microbus was heading to northern Bangladesh for Eid holidays when the cylinder suddenly exploded, triggering a fire that quickly engulfed the vehicle.
According to eyewitnesses, the blaze was so intense that passengers had little chance to escape. Rintu died on the spot, while two other passengers, Shiuli Begum and Taiba Khatun, succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.
Sherpur Highway Police Camp in-charge Rokon Uddin said the vehicle has been recovered, and the bodies will be handed over to families after legal procedures.
