Milestone College files GD against former student over protest
Milestone College authorities have filed a general diary (GD) against one of their former students for speaking in the ongoing protest surrounding the HSC exam. The GD was filed with Turag Police Station in the capital on Thursday, with number 905.
In the GD, Milestone College Security Officer Muhammad Zahurul Islam mentioned that Rubaiya Mehzabin Suhi was a student of the college's science department (English medium) in the 2024-25 academic year. However, due to disciplinary reasons, she was previously given a transfer certificate (TC) with the permission of the Dhaka Education Board, as a result of which she is not currently a student of Milestone College and does not have the right to use any identity of the institution.
The complaint states that even after receiving the transfer certificate, Rubaiya Mehzabin Suhi used Milestone College's identity card to speak in a video circulated on social media, in which she made provocative anti-government remarks in the protest related to the HSC exam question paper. She became widely discussed on social media after making a comment like 'I have taken responsibility for 12 crore students' in the video. In the GD, the college authorities claimed that using the institution's identity despite not being a student is creating confusion among the general public and tarnishing the reputation and image of the college.
In this situation, Milestone College authorities have requested to register the matter in the general diary for the future and take necessary legal action. The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Turag Police Station has ordered to take necessary legal action after accepting the GD.
