Milestone Jet Crash: 1 more victim dies, death toll rises to 32
The death toll from the tragic plane crash at Milestone School and College has risen to 32, following the death of another injured student undergoing treatment at the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute.
Ayman, a 10-year-old student of the institution, succumbed to his injuries around 9:30am on Friday (July 25), confirmed Dr. Shawon Bin Rahman, resident surgeon at the institute. The child had sustained 45 percent burns in the incident.
According to the latest update from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) as of 10.00am Friday, 32 people have died, and 51 others are still receiving treatment at various hospitals.
Earlier, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) had reported the death of 31 individuals as of Tuesday noon. Another victim died later that night, raising the toll to 32 at the time. Ayman's passing on Friday morning brings the total confirmed fatalities to 33.
In a statement issued Thursday evening, Milestone School and College confirmed that among the deceased are 20 students, 2 teachers, and 2 guardians, based on verified information as of 6:20pm.
The crash, which took place on Monday when a Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft went down in the school compound shortly after takeoff, remains under investigation. Most of the victims were children, and the tragedy has sparked nationwide grief and calls for stricter flight safety protocols near populated areas.
