Milestone School confirms 22 dead, 5 missing after plane crash
Milestone School and College authorities have confirmed that 22 people were killed and 5 remain missing following the crash of a Bangladesh Air Force fighter jet on the institution's premises in Uttara, Dhaka.
In an official statement signed by Principal Mohammad Ziaul Alam on Thursday, the school disclosed the casualties, describing the incident as a "heartbreaking tragedy."
According to the statement, the deceased include 18 students from the school section, 2 teachers, and 2 guardians. A total of 51 others sustained serious injuries, including 40 students, 7 teachers, 1 guardian, 1 caretaker, and 1 office assistant.
Five individuals are still missing, among them 3 students and 2 guardians.
The school has formed an internal investigation committee on July 22 to look into the incident. The statement clarified that the institution is reporting only the casualties related to its own staff, students, and their families. The overall number of casualties from the incident is being compiled and updated by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Efforts are ongoing to update and verify the list of victims.
