Milestone Tragedy: 1 patient discharged, 3 remain in critical condition
Doctors at the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute have discharged one more burn victim from the Milestone School and College plane crash incident. The patient, Farzana Yasmin, 45, a teacher at the school, has shown significant recovery and been moved out of the ICU. However, two other patients remain in critical condition in the ICU.
At a press conference held on Wednesday afternoon, Institute Director Professor Dr Nasir Uddin provided an update on the ongoing treatment efforts. He reported that there were initially three patients in the ICU, but one was transferred to the High Dependency Unit (HDU) following improvement.
Currently, the institute is caring for 32 patients in total. Of these, three are classified as critical, seven as severe but stable, and the remainder are admitted in other wards and cabins. Notably, no new fatalities have been reported in the past three days.
Dr Nasir Uddin further stated that 14 patients are showing signs of improvement while the rest remain stable. Since the incident, the medical team has conducted 158 surgeries — both major and minor — on the affected patients.
The institute has announced that no further formal briefings will be held. Instead, daily updates will be shared via press releases.
