Milestone Tragedy: 11 DNA samples collected to identify 6 victims
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the police have collected DNA samples from 11 individuals in an effort to identify the 6 victims of the tragic plane crash at Milestone School and College in Uttara.
According to Shampa Yasmin, special superintendent of Police (SP) at the CID's forensic department, samples were taken from the remains of five bodies currently at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) morgue. In response, 11 claimants—some from the same families—have submitted blood samples for DNA matching.
Six bodies remain unidentified. The government has urged families of the missing, especially those not listed among the injured or deceased, to provide DNA samples at the CID headquarters in Malibagh.
DNA profiling is being conducted under the supervision of the Health Ministry. Once family samples are matched, identification will be confirmed swiftly.
Dr. Md. Sayedur Rahman, special assistant to the Chief Adviser on Health and Family Welfare, reiterated the government’s call for cooperation to expedite the identification process.
