On the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, the historic Sholakia Eidgah in Kishoreganj turned into a sea of worshippers, with an estimated 600,000 to 700,000 devotees participating in the 199th congregation.

Elderly worshippers such as Ali Akbar Akand, 72, and Idris Ali, 70, have been attending prayers at Sholakia for over 57 years. Like previous years, they arrived a day in advance. New participants also joined, including Bachhir Uddin from Palash in Narsingdi and Dulal Mia from Nabiganj in Brahmanbaria.

The Eid prayer began at 10:00am, led by Mufti Abul Khayer Mohammad Saifullah, khatib of the Bara Bazar Mosque in the district town. Following the prayers, special supplications were offered seeking peace, prosperity, and well-being for the Muslim Ummah and the country.

According to Mohammad Aslam Molla, president of the Sholakia Eidgah Committee and Deputy Commissioner of Kishoreganj, worshippers performed their prayers in a festive and secure environment. To ensure safety, 11 security forces—including the army, RAB, BGB, and district police—were deployed. Six observation towers, drones, and over 50 CCTV cameras were used to monitor the area.

This historic ground has hosted large Eid congregations since the Pakistan era, continuing the tradition of bringing together thousands of worshippers each year to celebrate the joy of Eid.
