Minister scolds officials over dusty office environment
Social Welfare Minister Dr A Z M Zahid Hossain expressed anger and frustration over the environment and mismanagement at the Rangpur District Social Services Office on Saturday, July 4. He scolded officials after noticing dust accumulated on chairs, tables and computers in various rooms of the office.
The incident occurred during a visit to the district social services office located in the Rokeya Chattar area of the city.
During the visit, the minister noticed dust on chairs, tables and computers in the computer section on the third floor. He observed a similar condition in the sewing training room operated by the Socio-Economic Centre on the fourth floor. He expressed his displeasure to the officials by touching the dust himself.
"The chairs and tables in the office suggest no one has used them in the past 15 days. The condition of the rooms proves that," the social welfare minister said.
Deputy Director of the District Social Services Office Aniruddha Kumar Ray said one of the rooms belonged to the city social services unit and the other to the Socio-Economic Centre. However, he said the matter was being taken seriously and necessary measures would be taken as per the minister's directives.
