Minister, state minister, secretary mourn death of Bangladeshi expat in Saudi missile strike
Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury, State Minister Md Nurul Haque and Senior Secretary Dr Niamat Ullah Bhuiyan have expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of Bangladeshi expatriate Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun, who succumbed to severe burns sustained in a missile strike in Saudi Arabia amid the Iran-Israel war.
In a condolence message on Wednesday, March 18, they prayed for the eternal salvation of the departed soul and expressed condolences to the grieving family. They also prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the deceased a place in Jannatul Ferdous and give the family strength to bear this loss.
The deceased, Al Mamun, was critically injured in a missile launched from Iran that struck the Al-Kharj area of Saudi Arabia on March 8. With approximately 90 per cent of his body burned, he was undergoing treatment at the Burn Unit of King Saud Medical City in Riyadh. He passed away at 11:00 pm on Tuesday, March 17.
The deceased's ancestral home is in Rasulpur, Gaffargaon upazila, Mymensingh, and his father's name is Shahidul Islam.
In the condolence message, the minister further informed that officials from the Bangladesh Embassy and Labour Welfare Wing in Riyadh have been providing continuous support to the bereaved family since the accident. The family will receive financial assistance from the ministry according to government rules.
