State Minister for Power and Energy Aninda Islam Amit has issued directives to district administrations to bring discipline in the supply and marketing management of fuel oil. He also called for implementing some directives aimed at saving electricity through the district administrations.

The state minister said the current democratic government is sincerely trying to ensure that people's suffering does not increase. He urged everyone to remain aware and perform their duties more firmly in this regard.

He gave these directives while presiding over an online views-exchange meeting on maintaining discipline in fuel oil supply and marketing management on Sunday, March 15. The Cabinet Secretary, Public Administration Secretary and all Deputy Commissioners joined the meeting online.

Later, the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources provided this information in a press release.

The nine directives given to DCs:

• Submit reports by verifying daily opening and closing stocks at depots.

• Ensure supply of fuel allocated from depots to petrol pumps.

• Monitor supply and distribution to all customers (petrol pump dealers, agency dealers, packed point dealers and direct customers).

• Investigate specific reasons if a petrol pump remains closed and double-check fuel supply accounts with the depot.

• Prevent illegal hoarding.

• Ensure security of oil depots.

• Stop smuggling of fuel oil.

• Keep vigilant watch to prevent sale of fuel oil at higher prices and ensure exemplary punishment if offences occur.

• Increase surveillance at the district level.
