Prime Minister's Political Adviser and BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas has been admitted to Singapore General Hospital for advanced treatment.
He was taken to Singapore by air ambulance from Dhaka on Sunday, March 15. The air ambulance carrying Mirza Abbas departed from Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for Singapore around 11:30 am.
He is undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Neurosciences Department at Singapore General Hospital.
BNP Health Affairs Secretary Rafiqul Islam confirmed this information to journalists.
Rafiqul Islam said Mirza Abbas arrived in Singapore in the afternoon local time after a three-and-a-half-hour flight. He was quickly taken by ambulance from the airport and admitted to the hospital's Neuro ICU, where doctors from the Neuro Department attended to him. Rafiqul Islam further stated that Mirza Abbas did not experience any physical problems during the long journey and is currently stable.
Earlier on Friday, Mirza Abbas underwent brain surgery. He was placed in ICU after the four-and-a-half-hour procedure. Due to his deteriorating condition and the need for more advanced treatment, the decision was made to transfer him to Singapore.
