Mirza Fakhrul condemns attack on NCP rally in Gopalganj

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has strongly condemned the violent attack on the National Coordination Party’s (NCP) pre-announced “March to Gopalganj” programme. The assault, carried out by alleged Awami League-affiliated groups, involved explosions, arson on UNO and law enforcement vehicles, and injuries to police personnel.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Fakhrul expressed deep concern over the resurgence of instability fueled by anti-social elements following recent political upheavals. He criticized the Awami League government for allegedly enabling these attacks to undermine law and order and disrupt democratic processes.

Fakhrul called for the immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of those responsible for the violence. He also wished a speedy recovery for the injured officers.

He urged all political parties and citizens to unite to protect democracy and prevent the rise of fascism, emphasizing the need to safeguard the country’s independence and sovereignty.
