Mirza Fakhrul did not give any interview to foreign media: BNP

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has clarified that its Secretary General, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, has not given any interview to foreign media recently.

In a press release issued on Wednesday, BNP Joint Office Secretary Advocate Taiful Islam Tipu addressed reports claiming that Fakhrul spoke to the Kolkata-based Bengali daily Ei Samay. The newspaper had published an article under the headline, “Fakhrul Wants Awami League and Jatiya Party in the Elections”. The party termed the report “completely false and fabricated.”

Tipu said the fabricated interview appears to be part of a deliberate effort to damage the reputation of the party and its Secretary General. “The aim of this false report is to create doubt and suspicion among the people of Bangladesh,” he added.

The BNP emphasized that citizens and party leaders should not be misled by the untrue report published in the foreign media outlet.
