Mirza Fakhrul expresses satisfaction over election roadmap announcement

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has welcomed the Election Commission's announcement of an election roadmap, expressing optimism that it will help steer the country out of political uncertainty.

Speaking to reporters at the BNP Chairperson’s political office in Gulshan on Thursday  (August 28), Fakhrul said, “I am very happy. People from all walks of life — from paan shopkeepers to industrialists — are demanding elections. They want a way out of this uncertainty.”

Emphasizing the urgency of restoring democratic processes, Fakhrul stated that there is no alternative to elections in resolving the country’s current political crisis. He urged all stakeholders to support the democratic process and warned that attempts to obstruct or boycott the polls would ultimately be self-defeating.

“The people want change through the ballot. Any move to derail the electoral process will only backfire on those behind it,” he cautioned.

The BNP leader also expressed hope that the upcoming national elections will be held in a free, fair, and credible manner — reflecting the will of the people.
