Mirza Fakhrul visits Sylhet for first time as President
President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has travelled to Sylhet for the first time since assuming office. He arrived in Sylhet, the sacred land of 360 saints associated with the memories of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) and Hazrat Shahparan (RA), at 11:27am on Tuesday.
Members of Parliament from various constituencies in Sylhet, district administration officials and top leaders of various political parties were present at Osmani International Airport to welcome the President.
During his one-day visit, the President will visit the shrines of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) and Hazrat Shahparan (RA). He will also attend a civic reception organised by Sylhet City Corporation.
Security has been strengthened in Sylhet centring the President's visit. Additional law enforcement personnel have been deployed at the venues of the visit's various programmes, travel routes and important areas of the city.
According to the scheduled itinerary, the President will travel from Osmani International Airport to Sylhet Circuit House at 11:50am, where he will receive a guard of honour.
He will visit the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) at 12:30pm and then visit the shrine of Hazrat Shahparan (RA) at 1:25pm.
After a lunch break, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will attend the civic reception organised by Sylhet City Corporation in front of Nagar Bhaban at 3:30pm.
The President is scheduled to depart from Osmani International Airport for Dhaka at 8pm after concluding his visit.
