Missing DU graduate's body found at lake in Bogura
After being missing for three consecutive days, the body of Hasin Raihan Soumik, a 30-year-old former student of Dhaka University, was recovered from a lake in the Jaleswaritala area of Bogura city on Sunday morning (June 29).
Police have recovered Soumik's body from the lake near the B-Block Boat Club in Shajahanpur upazila around 10:30am, confirmed Shajahanpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shafiqul Islam Shafiq.
Soumik, a graduate in Computer Science from Dhaka University, was preparing to travel to the United States for higher studies. He was a resident of the Jaleswaritala area in Bogura city and originally hailed from Bocharpukur village in Sonatala upazila of Bogura.
According to police, Soumik went out for a walk from his home on Thursday evening and had been missing since. His phone was switched off, prompting his family and neighbours to search for him continuously. On Friday morning, his father, Taufiqur Rahman, filed a general diary at Bogura Sadar Police Station.
"There were no visible injury marks on the body. His identity was confirmed by family members, and the body has been sent to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital for autopsy,” the OC said.
"Police say an investigation is underway to determine the cause of death," he added.
