Missing Juba Dal leader's body found after 3 days, 2 held
Police have recovered the body of Jubo Dal leader Yusuf Khan, three days after he went missing in Mirzapur, Tangail. The body was found on Tuesday evening, March 17, beside a brick kiln in the Kuratoli area of the upazila.
The deceased, Yusuf Khan, was the general secretary of Ward 4 Jubo Dal in Azgana union, Mirzapur upazila, and a resident of Gharai village. Police have detained two individuals, Rizon Sikder and Hanif Sikder, in connection with the incident.
According to family sources, Yusuf used to buy soil locally and sell it elsewhere by truck. He left home around 9:00 pm on Saturday for business purposes and did not return. The next morning, a call was made to his family from his phone, claiming that police had taken him away. However, no trace of him was found after inquiries at the police station. His sister Panna Akhtar filed a general diary (GD) at Mirzapur Police Station regarding the incident.
According to locals, on Saturday night, a tree belonging to Hanif Sikder was broken by a truck carrying soil belonging to Yusuf. An argument ensued with locals over this matter.
A truck driver reported seeing Yusuf with a bearded individual around dawn, though he could not identify the person.
Police said the body was recovered around 6:45 pm during a search operation beside Alamash Mia's brick kiln. The body had been buried under brick fragments and soil.
Mirzapur Police Station Sub-Inspector Rahaduzzaman Akanda said preliminary investigations suggest this is a murder case. However, the cause and method of the killing will be confirmed after autopsy and interrogation of the detained individuals.
