Missing Kalabagan Police SI found after 23 days

Dhaka’s Kalabagan Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Rakibul Hasan Sarkar has been found 23 days after he went missing under mysterious circumstances.

The development was confirmed on Wednesday (May 20) by Kalabagan Police Station Officer-in-Charge Fazle Ashiq.

According to police, SI Rakibul is currently receiving treatment at the Central Police Hospital in Rajarbagh. However, authorities have not yet disclosed where he had been during the past several weeks or the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.

Police said the officer left the Kathalbagan police barracks around 5:30pm on April 28 to join night duty but never returned to the station afterward.

His mobile phone was found switched off from the following day, prompting colleagues and family members to search for him. A general diary (GD) was later filed with the police station, and a nationwide alert was issued seeking information about his whereabouts.

Officials said details regarding his physical and mental condition have not yet been made public as he remains under medical observation.

The incident has sparked questions both inside and outside law enforcement circles, though police have not yet provided any official explanation regarding the cause of his disappearance or the circumstances of his recovery.
