BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has blamed administrative inaction for the growing prevalence of “mob culture” in the country, citing it as a major contributor to increasing social unrest and lawlessness.

Speaking at a press conference held Tuesday afternoon at the party’s central office in Nayapaltan, Rizvi alleged that illicit black money and covert operations are fueling efforts to destabilize society under the guise of mob activities.

"A deliberate attempt is underway to spread disorder using mob culture as a cover, driven by illegal money and hidden conspiracies," said Rizvi. "At the same time, vested interest groups are leveraging technology to spread propaganda against the BNP on social media platforms."

He claimed that these developments are part of a broader, orchestrated effort to undermine democracy and delay upcoming elections. "Much like the exaggerated narratives of development under Sheikh Hasina’s rule, similar tactics are now being used to justify pushing back the election timeline," he added.

Rizvi emphasized BNP's longstanding commitment to democracy, constitutional governance, and justice. He stated that despite numerous challenges, the party’s leadership has consistently upheld democratic values and continued its political activities.

"BNP is a major political force that carries the principles of multiparty democracy and national sovereignty at its core," he said. "Some may misuse the party’s name to cause unrest, but BNP has always taken swift organizational action against any such individuals whenever incidents come to light."

He noted that disciplinary measures—including expulsions, suspensions, and show-cause notices—have already been issued against several party members involved in misconduct. However, he said these actions have received limited media attention.

Rizvi also raised concerns about what he described as the "mysteriously passive" role of law enforcement agencies. "Despite repeated calls for legal action against criminals and instigators, the administration remains unresponsive. Even direct engagements with the authorities have yielded no results," he said.

He warned that the current situation, if left unchecked, could jeopardize the country's social and cultural fabric. "Since the interim government took over, the police have been notably inactive. In some cases, it's clear that certain actors are deliberately pulling the strings from behind the scenes," he alleged.

Rizvi concluded by stressing the importance of an efficient and accountable administration. "The revival of democracy and long-term stability depends on peace in society. But under the Awami League’s regime, black money and underground networks are emboldening wrongdoers, creating signs of deepening anarchy," he said.
