Home Affairs Adviser Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has strongly condemned the incident of mob justice during the detention of former Chief Election Commissioner Nurul Huda, calling it "unacceptable" and a matter requiring serious investigation.

Speaking to reporters on Monday morning during a visit to the Horticulture Center in Mouchak, Gazipur, the Adviser stated that any involvement of law enforcement personnel in such acts, especially in their presence, would be thoroughly investigated and dealt with according to the law.

“There is no truth to the reports of former Chief Election Commissioner Habibul Awal being arrested. He has not been taken into custody. However, Nurul Huda was detained from Uttara,” said Chowdhury. “The manner in which mob justice was carried out during his detention is unacceptable. If any member of the law enforcement agencies is found complicit, appropriate legal action will be taken following an investigation.”

On another note, the Adviser announced that a new Agricultural Land Protection Act is being drafted to prevent the illegal occupation of farmland. He emphasized the importance of boosting local fruit production alongside imports of foreign fruits to preserve native varieties.

During the visit, Gazipur Deputy Commissioner Nafisa Arefin, Superintendent of Police Dr. Chowdhury Jaber Sadeq, and Director of the Horticulture Center Enamul Haque, among other senior officials from the police and agriculture ministry, were present.

The Adviser toured various sections of the center, interacted with officials and staff, and provided directives on improving operations.
